What kind of finance business do you run?

Pick the business that earns from the customer. The questions that follow change to match.

How the maths works.

A customer acquisition cost (CAC) calculator, a marketing ROI calculator and a break-even calculator in one, built for how finance businesses actually earn.

  1. Your full cost.

Ad spend, 18% GST unless you can claim it back, your other monthly costs, and your team's time on each lead if you add it.

  2. What one deal earns you.

Your payout, fee or commission, counted month by month over the years you enter. Nothing from us goes in.

  3. The deals you need.

Your full cost divided by what one deal earns, rounded up. Then your leads divided by that number: the 1 in X you have to close.

Frequently asked questions.

Why does a cheaper lead sometimes cost me more?

A cheap list carries more people who don't qualify, and your team spends time on every one of them. What matters is what one customer costs you, and the calculator counts both the price and the time.

What close rate should I use?

Your own: of your last 100 enquiries, how many became paying customers. If you don't track it, try a cautious figure and then one or two others. Even without it, the calculator shows the rate you would need.

Why does PMS or wealth take so long to pay back?

Fees and trail arrive a little at a time while the client stays, so each client pays back their cost over months, not at once. The calculator shows year one and the client's whole stay separately.

Does it include GST and my team's time?

GST on ad spend, yes: 18% unless you can claim input credit. Your team's time, if you add the salary and the minutes spent on each lead.

What is customer acquisition cost (CAC), and how do you calculate it?

CAC is what it costs you to win one paying customer: your total marketing cost for a period divided by the customers you won from it. Total cost here means ad spend, GST you can't claim back, agency and tool fees, and your team's time on the leads.

What's the difference between cost per lead and CAC?

Cost per lead is what you pay for one enquiry. CAC is what you pay for one customer. If 1 in 50 enquiries becomes a customer, your CAC is about 50 times your cost per lead, plus your other costs. That's why a cheap lead can still mean an expensive customer.

Is what I type saved?

No. The maths runs in your browser. Nothing is saved or sent unless you press the WhatsApp button and send the message yourself.

Is this financial advice?

No. It's an estimate of your marketing costs and earnings from the numbers you enter. It says nothing about investment returns.
